Jacksonville Icemen - Lizard Kings Intro
When the Jacksonville Icemen announced a special throwback night honoring the Jacksonville Lizard Kings, the city’s beloved minor league hockey team from the late 1990s, the entire broadcast presentation had to be reimagined. From the score bug to the in-arena graphics, every visual element was redesigned to capture the bold, energetic style that made the Lizard Kings so memorable.
As part of the transformation, I created an original intro video to help set the tone for the night and immerse fans in the throwback atmosphere. Although the team ultimately decided to go in a different direction and re-edit the piece to Kid Rock’s “Bawitdaba,” my first version took inspiration from the dark, high-energy aesthetic of the Mortal Kombat franchise, which has always been a personal favorite of mine.
While the original cut never made it to the arena screens, it remains one of my favorite projects from the event and a fun opportunity to blend hockey, nostalgia, and one of my biggest pop-culture influences into a unique piece of content.
